Police Department Ord Nebraska

Community Camera Program

THE PROGRAM

Do you have private video surveillance cameras at your home or business? If you do, the Ord Police Department would like to hear from you. Video surveillance cameras are a great tool for apprehending criminals and convicting suspects who are caught in the act of committing a crime.
The Ord Police Department is asking residents and business owners throughout Ord to register their privately owned surveillance camera systems. As officers respond to criminal incidents, they may be able to use footage gathered from the security cameras to help apprehend and prosecute people involved.
You would only be contacted if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of your camera. The Ord Police Department may ask to view your camera footage to assist with an investigation. Information provided to the Police Department regarding your camera system will be for official use only. Your personal information will remain confidential except as required by law. If needed, you would agree to provide a copy of the video file for further investigation and evidence.
Our goal is to empower the residents by taking a community wide approach to policing. We hope that you will join us in this initiative and help protect the community we all care about.

The Ord Police Department received notification that they have been recognized as an Accredited Law

Enforcement Agency by the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.  Accreditation requires that an agency be compliant with the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice guidelines for Policies, Practices, Federal and State Reporting, Training and Hiring Practices.  Accreditation is determined through  agency submission of required material, assessment by the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, site visits to determine compliance and finally, Accreditation.

It is very gratifying for the members of the Ord Police Department to receive this recognition of our ongoing commitment to competence and professionalism.  A great deal of work went into the preparation and submission of all the required material as well as the revisions to policy and practices.  As always, we are committed to improving our service to the City of Ord, and its citizens with the highest level of police service.
